This page explains what data is collected when you use gay-hookups.us, why, how long it is kept and what your rights are.
1. Data collected
When posting an ad: nickname, gender, age, city, ad text and photos, email address (required) and phone number (optional). The email and phone number are never displayed publicly.
When replying to an ad or signing up to the chat: email address, nickname, gender and message. This data is passed on to the ad's author or to the partner chat service.
Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages viewed, timestamp. It is used for security, moderation and aggregated traffic statistics.
2. Why this data
To publish and manage your ad; forward replies; let you access the chat; moderate content and prevent abuse; meet our legal obligations; measure the site's audience in aggregate.
3. Partners
Creating a chat account may redirect you to a partner service. The data you then enter (email, nickname, gender) is passed on to it to create your account. This partner applies its own privacy policy, shown before sign-up.
Apart from that case, your data is neither sold nor shared. It may be entrusted to technical providers (hosting, email sending) who act on instruction and make no other use of it.
4. Retention period
An ad's data is kept while it is live, then for 12 months after its deletion or expiry for evidence purposes and to fight abuse. Reply messages are kept for 12 months. Technical data is kept for 12 months at most.
5. Cookies and local storage
The site uses strictly necessary local storage only: remembering the age check, display preferences and form protection. No advertising cookie is set by the site itself.
6. Your rights
You can access your data, correct it, request its deletion, object to its processing or request its portability. The simplest way to delete an ad is the management link received by email. For any other request, use the contact page and state the email concerned. We reply within one month.
If you believe your rights are not respected, you can contact your country's data protection authority.
7. Security
Exchanges with the site are encrypted. Hidden photo metadata (location, device) is removed before publication. Access to data is limited to the people in charge of moderation.
